LUMINESCENCE - Ideation
The inspiration behind my luminaire is GROWTH.
FINAL DESIGN
This painting was the main inspiration for my second and final luminaire.SECOND DESIGN
At first I wanted my luminaire to grow down or hang from the ceiling but then I decided the growth was coming from the lower section so it should grow up from a table top.
The first luminaire I designed had intense color and the contrast against the black shapes was beautiful. However, when I came across the painting I posted above, I was inspired by it and decided to change my design.FIRST DESIGN

Observation
The first thing I did was observe the affect light has in various situations. Below are some pictures I took that show contrast, low light, direction, color, midday, sunset and nightlight.
Precedent Analysis
Then I looked at designers and websites to get inspiration for my luminaire. Of course Google Images gave me endless ideas.
Context
Next I had to decide if I wanted my luminaire to hang from the ceiling, sit on a table, or attach to the wall.
Materials
Finally, we were required to use three materials and one of them had to be one we used in another project this semester.
